Outlined itinerary details for 10 days,  B = Breakfast, L  =  Lunch, D = Dinner

 

Day 1: Upon your arrival in Cusco, we’ll pick you up either in the morning or afternoon for a City Tour. We’ll visit the Temple of the Sun (Koricancha), stroll through the main square (Plaza de Armas), explore traditional streets, and check out the lively San Pedro Market. We’ll also visit two nearby ruins – the Fortress of Sacsayhuaman and “Qenqo”. It’s a day packed with history and the charm of Cusco. Get ready to enjoy the sights!

 

 

Day 2: Our second day takes us to Pisac, showcasing Inca brilliance and stunning views. The town’s lively market adds a burst of color with intricate works, celebrating its deep cultural ties. Next, Ollantaytambo is a historic hub known for towering structures. The site witnessed a victorious clash between Manco Inca and Spanish troops. Preserving the Inca-era charm, Ollantaytambo concludes our day, offering a peaceful night’s stay surrounded by history. (B.)

 

 

Day 3:  This day we will take off from the mountain village of Ollantaytambo and head up the mountains to a remote village. We will spend an afternoon eating lunch and dance with a local community, learning about their crafts and way of life, and immersing in their culture. This day is very special and an opportunity to experience the raw nature of a Peruvian village.

 

 

Day 4:  Ollantaytambo to Huayllabamba.

At 7 am, we pick you up from your Ollantaytambo hotel and drive 45 minutes to the start of the Classic Inca Trail at Km 82. After a brief walk, we reach Llactapata with stunning mountain views. Following lunch, a two-and-a-half-hour hike brings us to our camping site in Huayllabamba. Enjoy afternoon tea and meet the porters joining us on this memorable journey.

Day 5: Inca Trail – Huayllabamba to Pacaymayu

Rise and shine at 5:30 am for an early start after a delightful breakfast. Our hike takes us to Dead Woman’s Pass at 4,215m, the highest point of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Traverse through the enchanting forest with native trees and hanging mosses, immersing yourself in the breathtaking natural scenery. Upon reaching the pass, soak in the beauty of snowy mountains before descending to our camping site at Pacaymayo. Here, we’ll enjoy lunch and a leisurely afternoon to unwind from the day’s trek.

Day 6: Inca Trail – Pacaymayu to Wiñay Wayna

Another early start awaits us as we begin the day with a hearty breakfast. For two hours, we ascend towards the second mountain pass of the Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, offering stunning views of the snow-capped Pumacillo peak. After descending from the pass, we explore the beautiful Incan site of Sayacmarka before gently ascending to the third mountain pass, where we break for lunch.

This day showcases the trail’s beauty with views of the Veronica mountain peak, Vilcabamba mountain ranges, and the enchanting Cloud Forest. Stops to explore the Incan sites of Phuyupatamarka and Intipata add cultural richness to our journey. After three more hours of hiking, we descend to the campsite at Wiñay Wayna.

Day 7: Inca Trail – Wiñay Wayna to Machu Picchu

The earliest start of the trek begins at 3:30 am for an extraordinary sunrise view at the Machu Picchu ruins. Entering through the Sun Gate entrance (“Inti Punku”), just as the ancient Incas did, we savor breathtaking panoramic views. Descending into the main part of this archaeological wonder, we embark on a two-hour guided tour with an expert local guide. After the tour, you’ll have ample time to explore the beauty of Machu Picchu at your own pace.

Following the exploration, we descend to Aguas Calientes Town by bus and then take the train back to Ollantaytambo. Finally, a private van transports us back to Cusco.

Day 8: Cusco – Rainbow Mountain – Cusco

Get ready for an early start! We pick you up from your hotel at 4 am and head to Rainbow Mountain. After a 2-hour drive, we stop for a quick breakfast at CUSIPATA, followed by another hour to reach the trailhead at Llacto (15,216 ft). Along the way, enjoy views of Inca terraces and Rocky Mountains. The hike starts at Llacto, where you’ll encounter alpacas and llamas. Passing through villages, connect with locals preserving Quechua culture. After a 1.5-hour hike, we reach Rainbow Mountain (16,466 ft). Spend 30 minutes exploring and taking in the views.The descent takes 1 hour, and we return to CUSIPATA for lunch. Then, a 2-hour drive brings us back to Cusco, dropping you off at your hotel around 4:00 pm. (B, L)

 

 

Day 9/ Final day: Depending on what time your flight is there may be time for morning shopping in Cusco. You will then be transported to the airport for your international flight home. (B.)
